Don’t Wait Until the Last Minute: File your 1099-MISC Reports Now!

Tax season is in full swing, there is so much to consider, and here is a helpful reminder.  If your business has hired any sort of contractor/subcontractors and paid them more than $600 in 2008, then you need to file your 1099-MISC (Miscellaneous Income) by February 2.  The IRS deadline is January 31 but this is a Saturday this year, so it has been moved to the following Monday, February 2.

If you are a Cougar Mountain Software user, you can print this form directly from the 1099-MISC Report, which is found in the Accounts Payable Reports.  The 1099-MISC Report lets you print test copies to ensure that the data is placed correctly on the form before you start printing the actual forms.  It will also let you print more than one copy if necessary.  Plain paper and 1099-MISC forms found at Cougar Forms are compatible and guaranteed to work with Cougar Mountain Software.
