Fiscal Calendar Periods - setting up a 4-4-5 calendar
A Cougar Mountain customer asked this question:Â
“We are a manufacturing business and since 90% of manufacturers use a 4,4,5 fiscal year, it would be nice if Cougar Mountain could offer this option. Any chance of this happening in the near future?”
Kevin, a Cougar Mountain System Trainer replied:Â
Hey! The functionality is already within the program. By default each period in the fiscal calendar is set up from the first day to the last day of the month - but the fiscal calendar can be modified to better suit other situations, like your example here where manufactures want their periods set up in specific increments.
All you need to do is change the period dates in the Fiscal Calendar window when you are setting up shop:

Note: setting up a fiscal calendar is best accomplished on a new company during its setup process. Changing the fiscal calendar on an existing company usually requires the assistance of Customer Support (call 800.390.7053)

You can setup your fiscal calendar with your periods any size you want as long as each year is a full year. You can setup a 13 period calendar with 12 4 week periods and 1 4 week period with a couple of extra days to get a full year.
The fiscal calendar does not have to start on January 1, it can be any date within the year, as long as each year starts on the same day.

This is true, dave. I have never seen a 4,4,5 as a fiscal calendar, but you can do it. I could never recommend a 13th period more than 1 day for I consider that period as an Auditor period to make corrections, for a client.
Thanks for the info.
